True. The only thing about this being '1985' is Rooney Mara's birthdate.

That link lists the actors from the remake, and 1985 was Freddy's Revenge, so I'll patiently wait for more info.

If the 14 year old remake gets a release before the 40th Anv original, heads should roll.

Be one sick joke.

I rather the remake get a 4K release then a stand alone original.

I'm only agreeing to this, because it'd be bullshit if WB doesn't release the Nightmare movies as a whole set.

I'll happily buy this dumpster fire if it's in a 4K boxed set with all the others

I updated the title, seems like it is indeed the 2010 remake.

The fact that the much maligned remake is getting a UHD at all is a good sign IMO. Makes me think WB will be releasing the lot of them.

I would guess this too but WB will probably WB it.

WB exec one: man, The Nightmare On Elm Street remake 4K UHD sold poorly, do you think we should bother with the original film series?

WB exec two: nah, just put out another release of Blade Runner with different cover art, but make sure the artwork is hidious.

It does give me a slight bit of hope that we get the rest on 4K as a nice box set, and by doing this one separately the box set is not going to include this POS, LOL.

All the rights to the original films are still completely owned by WB, the only thing that has changed is that the Craven estate now owns the character again for future releases.

I like the way you think. : )
Remember how the old blu-Ray set excluded the remake as well along with the documentary; Never Sleep Again. Seems like a deliberate choice on WB’s & 1428 Films ends. Hopefully this is another example of that.

It's also even more noteworthy for 1428 Films since the other doc that they made for Friday the 13th included the remake.

The copyright for the original film is with Craven's estate now (the whole 35-year thing that caused the legal fiascos with the F13 films). But WB has had subsequent reissues of film that post-dated 2019, so it doesn't seem like there's any animosity there.
