I like both. They are different, but both really enjoyable, if you like this kind of over the top chinese Cat 3 erotica.

The remake is also absolutely bonkers and has a boatload of gorgeous, naked chicks in it. There is a lot of mediocre CGI, too, but that does not reduce the movies entertainment value in any way. It was produced in real 3D and besides all the boobs, behinds and other body parts you can enjoy in 3D it has also a lot of knives and other things flying in, out of and around the screen.

I had the chance to watch it in 3D on the big screen with a crowed of people that were really into it and we celebrated it.

This was one of the only HKL DVDs I never got hold of. It came out right before they disappeared (in their 'superbit' AKA 'we have no budget for extras' phase) and always went for silly money on eBay. Might have to give this a go.

My LE NOVA copy is still sealed! But the slip is very classy with a slightly raised embossed finish.

I'd be interested to see what this release packs in terms of features.

It says "Remastered for the very first time" so I'd like to think that means they've been able to do a 2k or 4K scan of the original negative or vault elements.

I've been hoping this film would get the upgraded treatment from 88 in a collectors edition package and hearing it is completely uncut too is fantastic.

I have the NOVA blu (which is also an upscale) so I'll definitely be pre-ordering the 88 release. Fingers crossed its a new scan.

Yes, upcale. The HK BD was also upscaled.

It's good fun, quite well made, nicely shot, and has a number of memorable sequences. It got a fairly popular cinema release down here in Melbourne, and I proudly asked the cute Chinese chick at the counter of the Chinatown Cinema if I could buy the poster below, which hung on my wall for years afterwards.

The scene where the horse-schlonged husband requests a shag from his wife, and she says "No thank you" because the whole act - which we see a minute later - is a bit much, got a big laugh from the cinema audience I saw it with.

To be honest I think Sex and Zen 2 is a superior film, but hey, gotta support a CAT III release. And I guess it's time for a rewatch anyway. I haven't seen this since the Joy Sales DVD came out some 18 years ago. Time flies.
