The best electrical connection is soldered. All other considerations are secondary imo.

Another great connection is the Monster QuiK Lok spade connector.
Outstanding connection and no soldering required.

Would that be ok? Or else what about the monster quick lock banana plugs

Actually now that I reread your post I'm a little confused.... don't buy the solder type if you aren't going to solder them... buy these: http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2


I believe those are the ones they are using in the instructions you linked.

It depends on the thickness of the strand, and the threads on the jack.
in most cases, probably not.... Electrically it would..

could someone let me know if the directions on monoprice that i linked above will work ok with solder type banana plugs.... also i have the ksw-10 sub by klipsch and the onkyp 705, what cord do i need to get to hook the sub up to the reciever?

Hi I use the Monster banana Plug screw type .they worked really good .I use to Silver Solder all my stuff but not anymore..LOL

As for your Sub Cable . Just get the Monster Subwofer cable RCA jacks to the LFE . Hope this helps

- easier - screw type, better? solder type. simply because it minimizes corrosion/oxidation of speaker wires....(its a gray area topic, on how it affects your speakers performance, but hey, do it once, do it right as i say)

it depends on both the cable and the banana plug your using. too fat, it wont work.

you just need a very good insulated cable for this. not necessarily monster branded ones ( IMO an overrated overpriced brand)

Those connectors can accept 18 to 12 AWG speaker wires. He should be fine

i HAVE the 12AWG (from monoprice) and it is quite laborous to make it work. you have to trim the cable's width to fit snugly into the said plugs.

but then again, like i said, it might be different banana plugs or even different cables.

i think i am just going to get some 16 awg cable so that shouldn't be a problem

Same here. I just installed them this weekend and I had no problem at all. Quite possible we didn't get the exact same wire as you suggested.

I had this same issue. Trimming down the sleeve to get the wire to fit into the plug. But, the 12 AWG is ginormously thick, and I've never had any problems with any signals to any speakers.

Well worth the cost, especially when using Monoprice.

Those instructions are fine. I have those connectors and they work great.

Keep looking on monoprice. They have subwoofer cables and they'll be much cheaper than anything with Monster on it.
