denon: is 988 = 2808 and 888 = 2308 - Blu-ray Forum

Is the 988 (resp. 888) the same as 2808 (resp. 2308) but the difference being they are for end users rather than for CIs?

Here is a comparison between the four models on Denon site. It appears that the only difference is the last line (remote). You can always call them and ask them.

From my knowledge they use better circuit boards and electronics inside. As why would anyone buy them if they were all the same. i guess you pay for quality?
