Default Say goodbye to HD-DVD movies at Best Buy!

Goodbye HD-DVD, hello more Blu space!
HD-DVD movies/software are being sent back and out of the stores. This is supposedly happening at the end of the month, give or take a few days. I work there and saw the memo. Other employees reading this can probably verify this as well.

I don't know if they will go on a final steep sale though. But hopefully this will give all their space to blu-ray!

At my local Best Buy, they have done some serious moving in the movie department. Where they used to keep the CRT TVs (which are completely gone as far as I could tell), they have now moved all the video game related items (systems/games/peripherals). They have also expanded the movie section to fill the space formerly taken up by the games. This may lead to a larger Blu-ray footprint in the store, they did have a huge spot showcasing I Am Legend on Blu. We shall see, but the HD DVD zone is down to two sections from 3 now.

yeah saw the info on that last night....said that we should hold enough yellow totes to handle our entire hddvd stock for the pull at the end of the month...last pull of the month would be next week....unless they ment fiscal month

Man, I wish they would do a fire sale, as their are a few titles I would buy that I know are obscure and they prolly wont make it to blu anytime soon... prolly years. (Method Man Concert, Harsh Times)

Other than that, Good Riddens!

Yeah, I was waiting for them to dump them for $5-$10 each.

That sucks.

Just to expand on that, Best Buy's internal newsletter stated from the beginning that the 30% off would be the only discount before the discs are sent back.
