Goodbye, Planet Earth (HD DVD)

Planet Earth, the shining jewel of HD DVD sales, is going off the cliff on Amazon:

It's gone from the middle of the top ten high-def movies to number 9 and dropping like a rock. It's gone from the 30s and 40s in combined DVD/BD/HD DVD sales to number 83 and dropping.

It is currently the only HD DVD movie in the combined top 100 (next is American Gangster, which is a combo, at number 170, then Superman Returns at 281).

HD DVD sales in general had been doing poorly on Amazon (a former stronghold for the format):

But Planet Earth had, until recently, seemed mysteriously immune to the trend.

I guess reality finally set in, even for this magical title.

Planet Earth in Blu-ray is number 2 on the high-def media list and number 20 on the combined list.
