Default Buying new plasma! new panny!

Hey guys, I need some input from you experienced people.

I'm interested in buying a new plasma. Probably the 50in new panny's(85U).

I know panny's are awesome(i recently bought my dad that 58in 750 plasma model). I don't need as big a tv so 50 is fine for my place, but I want to get a damn good 50in then. How good is this new panny model? compared to the pioneer 50in? I heard these actually may be better or on par. Let me know. I want it NOWS LOLZ!

It'll be pretty damn good, but if you can wait, you might want to check out the -800 and -850 when they come out. They have true 24p support, which the lower models lack...

None of the 85U models display true 24 frames. They accept the signal then perform 2:3 pulldown, we have discussed this to death, or till the cows came home as Dr Phil would say. The 800 and 850 models will display true, native, authentic 24p

Dammit. sorry.

Well, when do those come out and at what do you guesstimate the retail price will be?

It's all good, we all went through the confusion :-) Panasonic to blame of course. We're looking at mid to late April with a MSRP of $3199 for the 50 inch. It's up on Amazon already, but not the Panny site. Expect more competitive pricing under $3k after it's released.
