Default Dead or Alive (DOA)

I picked up this movie as a blind buy for about 5 bucks, I could've rented it for just under that, but I gave in and purchased it.

Being an old Mortal Kombat fan, when they made the movie, I was there at the theater and loved it. Scorpion was my favorite and the fight / death scenes are classic. I'd love this movie on blu-ray.

So now that we have 3D fighting games, they made DOA, I must have missed the box office run if there was one???

The movie really isn't that bad, it's better than you might think and not as trashy with a pg13 rating. The story was ok, the fighting was pretty good and the girls are just as you'd expect them to be.

All in all, this was a fun popcorn fighting flick and once again reminds me why I loved Mortal Kombat so much (not part 2, that was an atrocity). I'd recommend a rental of this movie, probably only if you've played the game.

7/10 - for what it's worth it was a fun, easy to watch movie. The stunts were pretty good, the transitions were handled well, you can tell they incorporated some of the game elements and backdrops into the movie. For what it was trying to be....it succeeded.

What do you guys think?

To this day Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation remain the most true adaptation from a game movie and the best movie overall when it comes to gaming in my opinion.

Aside from the changing of who played Raiden I thought Annihlation was perfect. A bit of a cluster**** of characters but it was sweet to see them pack them all in.

I'd love to see a 3rd MK movie. Unfortunately its been so long since the last one they'd have to recast all the characters and I doubt they'd use the right person for each role.

As for DOA once you realize that this movie is NOT trying to take itself too seriously and you realize it was just an attempt to make a huge amount of money off a very well established and popular fighting game series its easier to watch.

Granted its horrible and doesn't deserve a SINGLE award. However in the end its funny at pointsm, has some okay fight scenes, and showcases a few hot women (who in reality don't compare to the lovely ladies of DOA that I'm use to seeing on my 360).

Thats my favorite character to play in the video game.

The movie was OK, even though it was released in other parts of the world before making it to the US. I think thats what really killed the theater showing of it. I actually watched it about 8 months before it was released in theater here in the US on DVD.

The ONLY good thing about this movie is the eye candy. The plot is horrible, the acting is worse, and it's just all around atrocious. I wouldn't even waste the time to pirate the movie.

There are class A movies and class B movies, sometimes I just want a campy B movie and this really fit the bill.

I did like Holly Valance, who played the kick-ass blonde Christie in "D.O.A.". And I'm not ashamed to say that I thought she was hotter than Jaime Pressly!

I'll be honest and admit that I actually really enjoyed this movie. Yeah, it's silly, but it's also entertaining. Besides, Holly Valance and Sarah Carter are smokin' hot.

EDIT: I just wanted to that that I've never played any of the DOA games.
