CoD4 Map Pack for PS3: Very Disappointing For me - Blu-ray Forum

I eagerly awaited the new Map pack for CoD4. Sitting by my PS3 for days checking the PSN for it's release. CoD4 in my opinion is the best game out for any system right now (as of 4/25/2008). After a day of playing the new maps, I am very disappointed with what InfinityWard did with the game options:

1. The maps are not incorporated with the game, meaning, you can't play them with the other maps. You have to exit the new maps, then go to the old ones. That sucks!!!

2. You can not play a dedicated game of hardcore Team deathmatch. You can only play HC Team deathmatch if it is incorporated with search and destroy. Horrible!

I feel I wasted my money. Maybe IW will change this??? Until then, I feel it was a waste for the 4 maps, which is really 3 maps because one of the maps is too small to play on and never comes up anyway.

No Hard Core Team Death Match without having to play Search & Destroy.

I wanted to puke when I turned the game on. Our group kept voting down the S&D. If there were 2 in a row we would drop the room.

this was really bad.

Infinity Ward need to fix this. You should be able to play anything anyway you want. Everything should be Hardcore or "baby mode" as we call it.

The maps will go into the other in a week. Just ilke the XBOX did.

China town is amazing. I love the creek too. But you guys are right, the game options need some fixing.

It doesn't seem like this would take too long.

i think they will integrate the complete package by the end of the week. if not, i guess its a way for them to 'filter' those who were able to purchase the maps, and those who did not. but thats just my two cents.

The maps are awesome, with creek as my favorite, chinatown second.

The modes don't really bother me cause I never play hardcore, it feels too much like quake III for me (which i didnt like). I just play the normal deathmatch.

I think the poll answers are biased. I like it, but not as much as bread and wheels lol

Hard core is great. the other stuff is sucko because you can shoot people 900 times and they don't die.

I'm planning of selling my old CoD4 just so I could get the GOTY edition just for the voucher thats with it for the map pack. But even though from what I've heard from the crowd, I might still get it, just cos I want more.

They are seperated just for the weekend after monday of next week they will be in rotation just as the other maps are. This is the way it was on 360 also they are giving people a chance to get the new maps and grow use to them, I think the maps are awesome!!

You are right, they will incorporate them into the rest of the playlists this weekend. They are only offering double points on the new maps this weekend, so they had to put them in a separate category.

The one thing I don't understand is how they will handle mixing people who didn't download the pack. Say you join a game on one of the regular maps... then the next round is on a map pack map. Do they boot you from the game? Or will you be unable to join games hosted by people with map packs?

thats why they have the variety tag on the game select type. now maybe the 360'ers can give us a hint on how it works on this one, since they got the maps before we did.

i can tell it might serve a challenge due to the current servers problems at times, add this on to it.

thats why they didnt 'integrate' the maps immediately into the mainstream selection. id rather have a separate area for the meantime, and let us er.. have the exclusiveness of em for now (considering others dont really like em anyways), instead of devastate the current system.

Chinatown is a tribute to the Carentan map of Call of duty 2, which was in its time one of the best maps that was created, considering how people were using this for close encounter challenges. If other people didnt like Creek because its a snipe fest, this ones for the Shotgun toters, even the P90 boys.

To each his own on the maps. Personally? i think theyre pretty much balanced.

Heck, if ever, they can just add more maps using the update service right?

What i was also hoping for was that they were supposed to add old school guns that COD WW2 fans wanted to integrate with Modern Warfare. But, i really dont think thats going to go well with the developers (might be a tad difficult to integrate that, plus filter those who didnt buy em too)

I bought CoD4 after Warhawk, and it just wasn't good enough to tear me away from the greatness that is Warhawk.
Played that ever since, until recently when GT5P came out and stole all Warhawk's time.

So I won't be buying the map pack I don't think.

when you select the new maps it tells you on the screen that in a weeks time the new maps will be avaiable on all playable games.
