Default Don't you miss the war?

Now that the shooting is over - things are pretty boring. No real drama about studios switching sides, or wondering if I was supporting the eventual winning format, or guessing if Warner Brothers would release a title on Blu or HD-DVD...

Now we just talk about release dates and movies making big money (go Iron Man!)...I think this is becoming FanBoy.com...

Don't let the door hit you..... <a joke by the way>

In all seriousness, the whole point of the format war was so that our chosen format would have all movies available for release. If you want fanboism and the drama associated with it, there are plenty of sites that offer that. if you are no longer interested in blu-ray releases and info, the internet is a vast a wondrous place.

edit: no I don't miss the war. I look forward to my favorite movies coming to blu-ray with lossless audio and great PQ!

The nature of the discourse on this forum was bound to change once HD DVD died. I saw the same thing happen long ago when dvd became mainstream. The only topics that will get the forum going now is when the big catalog titles are announced(Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jaws, etc.) for Blu-ray. This forum still has a lot to offer.

Glad the "war" is over with all the FUD and related garbage. Miss the BOGOS though.

im very happy everything is coming to blu-ray now, however i will miss the chuckles i got from the HD DVD promotional group trying to spin things. it was fun watching them die a slow and painful death, especially after 1/4/08.

I didn't realize that there was a war, even if there was it couldn't have been that big. But to answer your question, nah.

I understand your point, and for the informed minority it would have been ok. However, it was very important for HD DVD to disappear early in the year.

a veterans tale:

when I came back home (after going to best buy to buy a bluray) from the war, I wasnt greeted with open arms from my parents and the friends that I havent seen for 40 minutes (grabbed the wrong movie). The war I guess really took its toll on everyone, its like it changed the way I looked (the little stubble that grew in) and the way people felt towards me. How could one fight a war that many did not believe in? Why did there have to be two formats? Sometimes I wake up in the middle of nights remembering the horror of what I saw. I saw children being harmed, their parents giving them HD-DVDs to carry and to.....watch. The horror, sometimes its just hard to talk about.

I both miss and don't at the same time.

Don't miss all the FUD and BS, but at the same time, all of the suspense and drama that accompanied that is no longer around. But in the end, it's good that it's over, so BD's can finally achieve mass market.

I am proud to be a veteran of the Blu-ray Wars!

As far as boring. This is why the CBC was created. But certein issues are preventing us from doing that right now

I don't miss it at all. In fact, I really glad it's over. This site has grown a lot since then, even in just a few months. The end of the format war has been a maturation process for this site. We've gone from fan boys trading barbs to actually having real discussions about film and gaming entertainment.

Blu-Ray.com has become (always was really) a recognized leader in discussion of the technology, home theater and the pure fun of watching movies. It was great to be a part of shaping the outcome of the format war. Now everyone gets to reap the benefits. I think it's better now than it ever was.
