HD DVD was never that big of an enemy to blu-ray. DVD and ignorance are far bigger enemies to blu-ray than HD DVD ever was.

I dont know if I agree with that .... maybe I would agree HDDVD never stood a chance of winning ... but its mere existence confused some ppl and left others on the side line for fear of choosing the wrong format ... it had to die and it wouldnt go away for a while lol

If Warner and Fox had accepted the bribe they were offered to go HD-DVD exclusive it would have been a huge enemy. Luckily common sense won out over short-term monetary gain because if they accepted that payout the format war wouldn't have ended since Sony and Disney would still have been Blu-ray.

No. Not at all. All it did was confuse the average consumer. It turned buying movies into how we buy videogames or computer software. No thanks.

Ditto, I got on board once the war was basically ending. I waited to see who the winner would be. Glad it's over.

There was some pretty good sales during the format war. Amazon would often have buy one get one free sales with huge selections. Now most of Amazon's sales are Buy 2 get 1 free and it's a selection of 10 movies from 2 years ago. Still glad it's over and almost all new movies are released on Blu-ray.

I think trolling one side against the other might have been fun for a bit but the overall douchebaggery would get old really fast for me, and I'm sure the repetition was really annoying.

I imagine it was quite entertaining but there are reasons I'm glad I waited -
PS3 dropped from $600 to $400
Blu-Ray selection has improved dramatically
Blu-Ray prices are also improving dramatically
Blu-Ray transfers continue to get better and better
We're even starting to see re-releases of catalog titles that are blu-ray only or the blu-ray comes out well before the DVD
