You should see little or no judder on panning sequences which are sometimes evident on DVDs and older tv sets.

Default No Judder?

I have a Sony KDL-40V3000 with 1080/24p and there is more judder in movies when it is on. I have heard that this is part of the feature. So, turn it on and if you like it, keep it. When there is no judder, I think movies look nicer.

Your TV is not 120hz, so you are relying on sony's processing of the 24p and converting to 60hz so there would be judder.

It will make the Blu-ray look closer to the film you see in theaters. It's most obvious on camera pans and other motion.

If the TV doesn't support it or can't do the 2-3 pulldown, it'll say something like "Unsupported resolution" and gives you a blue screen. Or display nothing at all until you stop the BD playback.

I have the tv in my sig, and when i turn it on i dont get the unsupported res your talking about. its works fine, so does that mean my tv has it? i thought only 120hz tv's have that.

The 24fps feature is only useful if your tv refreshes at a multiple of 24. Some new tv's have a refresh rate of 120Hz (new Bravias) and there are just a few that refresh at 96Hz. Most tv's refresh at 60Hz(including yours and mine) so the 24fps option will do nothing for you. It only accepts the 24fps signal and then converts it back to 60fps so your tv can display it properly.

Final word: leave the 24fps off unless you are certain your tv refreshes at a multiple of 24 - e.g. 48Hz, 72Hz, 96Hz, 120Hz.

I traded the 4061f in for my V3000. It accepts the 24p setting but does not display it.
