Default Blu-ray rentals?

I know that it is still early in the blu-ray/hd dvd era but I know that Netflix offers blu-ray and hd dvd on their service and blockbuster does not currently have them for rent. I was wondering if any local video stores, chain video stores or libraries(my local one has probably over 500 dvds) etc were starting to rent or lend them out.

In Canada: I'm using the largest Netflix-like service. Zip.ca

Since joining, I've received 15 titles. I check the condition of every one, and the results so far: A fine 1cm scratch on one disc, and 5x5mm v shaped mark on the other. Pristine otherwise, and absolutely zero troubles playing.

Rental is a joy with Blu-ray. Another selling point that the rental companies need to wake up and exploit. Especially the mail-based ones where consumers might fear the condition of discs sent through the mail.

Blockbuster online does carry blu-ray and hd-dvd. Also for us PS3 owners we get a free in-store game rental each month.

I've been renting Blu-ray movies from blockbuster on-line for about 2 or 3 weeks now. So far so good.

Default Blockbuster... Wait, Wait, Wait.

I have been finding that Netflix's BR titles are almost always available, that hasnt been the case with BB in my experience. Almost every BR title I have reserved with BB has not been available and has shown as a "Wait".

While I agree that BB has a great deal, it does me no good if I cant get the movies I want (BR titles). For now its Netflix for me.

Plus BB interface is inferior to NF IMO.

I agree, Netflix has the BR movies "on hand" and i receive them in about 2 days. I've heard of BB having many "wait " titles on hand. Even though the game rentals are nice, I'd rather go with Gamefly with my games. Netflix overall: i give it a 9.

I was happy with the Block Buster rental on-line system untill most of the Blu-Ray movies in my Q never showed. A short wait means "very long wait". I liked the fact you could exchange in the stores, but I want BD's. I just switched to Netflix and almost all my Q Blu-Rays are available now.

Gee, giving you the benefit of the doubt and not making a comment like, "Being that's your first post, Gee, I wonder who you work for?" they have a piss poor selection of BDs. Why would anyone even want to sign up with them?

I don't know whats up with everyones blockbuster, but mine here in atlanta, has a very large selection in store of both blu-ray and hddvd. in fact i went yesterday, and they received probably about 4-5 new movies. This is the reason why i got BB online service.

My guess is the big citys are starting to get them first then maybe it will trickle down to the smaller cities. I live in Lincoln, NE. Nobody rents BD's and nobody knows when they might start.

Which store do you go to? If it's close by I'll check it out but the one closest to my house doesn't have any yet.

Default my experience with both services

NetFlix slowed to a crawl AFTER the trial period expired. During the trial period, they were great. Then, seemed like bait-and-switch.

BB trial period expired a few weeks ago. The service is still very fast. Additionally, you can just pop into a store, hand them the return movie envelope and get an additional free movie I've been in disbelief. Too good to be true? Nope, it's true and I've been cranking thru movies like crazy...all for $9.99/mo.

Deep down, I was hoping NetFlix would outperform BB. But not even close. Hopefully the BB service will continue at this high value level.

BTW, cancelled NF.

FWIW...ciao
