If you look at the statistics on DVDEmpires site, you can see that Blu-ray is consistently outselling HD-DVD. The margin continues to grow. Blu-ray has now passed an important milestone at 60% sales. With upcoming release schedule it is not unlikely that Blu-Ray will exceed 2:1 ratio sometime in March. All this after HD-DVD held 60% or better market share all of last year.

1.37x 1.34x 1.56x 1.75x Maybe we could make chart out ot it ![]() So for the first 3 weeks of January the average of those numbers is about 59% Blu, 41% HDDVD. Lets see how the whole month ends! I know I was definitely waiting for Blu-ray (PS3) to release. I was so impressed I went out and bought a $3,999.99 (CAD) Sony VAIO notebook to boot so I could take it wherever I go, and to show off to my friends who have HIGH-DEF TV's, but are still stuck in the stone age... LMAO
My Blu-ray movie collection has grown to 30+ movies in the last week alone... Yesterday's purchase: Annapolis Resident Evil: Apocalypse Superman Returns Sahara Black Hawk Down Enemy of the State Gone in 60 Seconds Speed House of Wax The Covenant The Italian Job Purchases last week include: Mission: Impossible Mission: Impossible II Mission: Impossible III Pearl Harbor XXX The Transporter The Transporter 2 Into the Blue Fantastic 4 Stealth S.W.A.T Underworld: Evolution The copies we had from PS3 launch date until up to this last week: The Fifth Element Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby Kingdom of Heaven Kiss of the Dragon Lara Croft: Tomb Raider Ice Age: The Meltdown The Devil Wears Prada Anyone agree this is quite an overload in the last week? I'm determined to be one of the many to get Blu-ray off the ground and miles ahead of HD-DVD, and as others have said i'm going to have to take out a loan soon... How much do you think my recent purchases have helped so far this week? LOL j/k For a 20-year-old I think i'm doing pretty good where I'm at, I just use the parents 60" Sony to watch my movies, or my laptop. Last edited by calgarymarc; 01-25-2007 at 06:34 PM. VAIO notebook. BDPS1 player. Playstation 3. All are hooked up to the SXRD. And all are used to demo (right now, Ice Age II). Amazing. How do you find the notebook? Any playback issues? Gary |

All I can say is "WOW" in terms of the Sony VAIO VGNAR290G Notebook. I've had absolutely no playback issues with any of my BD-R movies, and the picture quality is impressive.
I'm sure there's other great displays out there, but this one caught me as soon as I saw it. The real purpose of my Blu-ray (BD) Notebook purchase was for portability. I didn't feel like lugging around the PS3 wherever I go, just to show my friends. I'm in the process of spreading the word, and my friends know it. It's all I talk about everyday. http://www.sonystyle.ca/commerce/ser...9n100299n47540 is the link for the computer specs. So far, it's been PURR'in like a kitten. ![]() |

Heheh - looks like the 'missing sales' are kicking in already
![]() It is weird though that the main page says for HD DVD: Titles 163 Pre-Release 98 but if you go to 'Show All' it lists 161. They also have 'Complete List' that says 194 titles. Bluray: Titles 159 Preorders 68 Show All 219. 'Complete List' is also 219. BD doesn't add up either but it does seem to be somewhat closer... Last edited by phloyd; 01-31-2007 at 04:50 PM. Reason: Added 'Complete List' for HD DVD. |

Bought 90% of my discs there since 2003, when DVDplanet went into the shitcan during that buyout. Same day and Friday shipping of preorders are what I want and they deliver. They're pretty good with 30% off MSRP as well, in the pricing department.
