Default Sony Vegas

From what i understand if I have a HD video camera, I can use the Sony Vegas software to burn the HD video onto a DVD-R which will play in Blu ray players in HD...anyone have any experience with this?

Yes you can do that with Sony Vegas Pro 8. No menus I believe, just straight from the editing timeline. I don't use Vegas, but I know it does it.

As Chevypower stated, Vegas Pro will burn straight from timeline.

Ulead has a couple programs that will do this + editing.

Roxio EMC 10 will do it too.

So can you edit video with Vegas or just burn what you filmed?

I can't speak to Vegas, but you can get good info at www.hv20.com - it has info for the Canon HV20 (HD camcorder) but there are threads there for Sony Vegas - seems like it's the most used product there.

I use Pinnacle Studio 11. With studio 11 I can edit HD content (from my HD camcoder) and then burn it as AVCHD (a subset of Blu-ray spec) and it will burn it to a DVD. So it's AVCHD on a DVD. It will play in my PS3 and (from what I've heard) in most BD players.

With AVCHD, you can fit up to 40 min on a Single layer DVD (4.7 g) and up to 80 min on a Dual Layer DVD. This is much cheaper than BD media (at this time).

That said, Studio 12 is now available and I think they added BD menus to the AVCHD stuff. Currently, (on Studio 11) I can't make BD menu's.

Hope that is helpful.
