Default Audio Issue...

I am having ongoing issues with my sound system (Sony DAV-IS10), i was watching "The Rock" last night and had a few friends over so i really wanted to impress them with my new set up, however during the whole film the center audio channel was really faint and sounded far away, you had to struggle to listen to any basic dialogue, tho at the same time any explosion scenes were really loud (acceptable level basically) what settings do i have to change etc, ive messed around with the setting on the player and the reciever and basically i dont know what the difrerence is in DTS HD,PCM, etc etc, what should the settings be for all of this

Im using a Sony DAV-IS Surround sound, there is co-axial cable going from the blu-ray player (Sony BDP S300) to the reciever (the reciever is set to AFT Standard) which automatically detects the best setting from the player for the sound, I mean what else can i tell you, shouldnt the sound be GOOD if its set to its default setting

Might need to calibrate the sound. On some systems, you can hook up a mike and it will automatically make some speakers louder than others to balance out the effect. On other systems, you can do this manually. it could also be a loose wire or a broken speaker. Sometimes if a speaker dies, it gets real quite and often distorts the sound a little. If calibrating doesn't help, you might need a new speaker.

Thanks, ill check that out later when i get home, there is one thing i notice is that the center speaker in question, i had to place the speaker cable underneath the tv stand to avoid having speaker cable all over the place, so basically the tv stand is crushing the cable, maybe this would cause it? even tho it does work fine on other blu-rays?

The Rock is a PCM title, which means you're getting a stereo downmix through coax. Your receiver sounds like it's not then putting that into pro-logic and putting it back in the center channel

You need to select the DD 5.1 track and not the PCM track

just go into your recievers speaker calibration in the setup menu and up the volume on your center channel.
