Default Ps3 + full hd 1920 by 1080p blu ray not giving me full screen?

I rented 4 blu ray dvds last night, 1st time playing a blu ray and all 4 are giving me wide screen, I want full screen, It says full hd 1920 by 1080 on the back of all 4 blu rays, My tv is a full hd 1080p lg scarlet, The ps3 is set on 1080p and scaling is set on full screen, Its only when the movie starts that it goes to wide and has the black bricks 1 on top and 1 on the bottom, Is there a way to get it to play in full screen without having to zoom with the tv?

Buy movies that were made for TV. For example, Planet Earth will naturally take up the entire screen. And it's generally pleasing to the eye.

sorry but educate yourself a little. HDTV and Blu-ray are meant for people who know, appreciate, and respect OAR

Some BDs' like NIN Beside you in Time are 16X9. Under Wide display if you set it to Pan and Scan instead of letter box on movies that are not in 16x9 format it will fill the screen up w/less bars but, it crops some of the image.

Full HD, has nothing to do with fullscreen/widescreen, you need to look at the aspect ratio. 1:85:1 ratio, for example would fill up the whole screen on your widescreen tv with no black bars, whereas 2:35:1 would be wider and give you the black bars. If you have a standard fullscreen tv the aspect ratio would be 4:3, and I don't think you can find that in any Blu-ray.

I work at Best Buy part time and try to educate people about original aspect ratios. Unfortunately due to the moronic movie studios catering to the lowest common denominator by releasing "full screen" DVD's they have really screwed up how people should be watching movies at home. Full Screen DVD's should have never been released in the first place. Studios should have explained initially that widescreen is how you watch movies in the theaters so that's how you should watch them at home regardless if your TV is 4:3 or 16:9.

I think he means widescreen that fills the whole screen without black bars on the bottom/top.

Now be nice. OP said he read the links and understood and only wanted some new Blu-rays that were filmed in the aspect ratio of his TV to show off his new big screen. :>
