Question Does your wife/partner/GF play any part in your buying

Are you a selfish bastard and only buy movies for yourself or does your partner have any say in what you buy?

My wife and I more or less perform our own movie purchasing, but we always secure "approval" first. If I see a title in which I'm interested, I make sure it's all right for me to purchase it; my wife runs her purchases by me first, as well. We've found that this compromise system works pretty well for both of us, so we continue to adhere to it.

If you don't mind me asking why do you both seek approval? Is it due to violent content or something?

My missus will watch movies with me but is not interested in watching movies more than once with the odd exception of the LoTR trilogy or Harry Potter which she loves. If its a violet or horror movie she just won't watch it but I am a horror fan so it would be difficult for me not to watch them.

I am a romantic fool and enjoy movies like Love, Actually, Notting Hill, The Holiday, etc., so my wife (she will be in 19 days) enjoys that I buy movies both of us can enjoy.

As for the whole Blu-ray thing, when she bought me Planet Earth for my birthday last year the future became wide open.

We both thoroughly enjoy the stuff like Galapagos, etc., as well.

Congrats on becoming "institutionalized"

My wife likes to "watch" movies.... but doesn't like that I buy them....... Obviously the 1,200 or so DVDs are a sore subject around the house!!!!!! Now with Netflix, it really bothers her when I buy some movies! She doesn't mind as much as long as I wait for a good sale.

Maybe it says something about the point in our life we're at that logic like that makes perfect sense. Whatever it says... I agree wholeheartedly. If my girlfriend ever said anything me buying too many BDs, I doubt she'd be my girlfriend much longer.

Congratulations , doby! Nervous as hell, yet?

And, yeah, a girlfriend who buys you Blu-rays for your birthday is definitely worth keeping. One who actually enjoys watching them with you is worth proposing to.

I am gay and have a boyfriend and he doesn't play any part in my buying because he likes every genre. So he'll watch almost anything.

I buy everything I want and I buy extra movies that I necessarily don't like or will never watch for the g/f. I like having a big movie collection for both of us to look through.

My wife has no say in what I buy, and I have no say in what she buys. We buy movies we like.
