Default dvd dolby digital different from blu-ray dolby digital?

ok so i was watching casino royale on my ps3 and well i may not have the best sound system in the world but i love my logitech 5500s they do just what i need them too, anyways i was watching it and i noticed that the dd track track on casino royale or any other blu-ray disc for that matter is crisper and clearer than the dd tracks on dvds, now is it the same compressed version on the bd as it is on the dvd? or do i need to get my ears checked out lol

No, your ears are fine. DD on Blu-ray is encoded with a higher bitrate (less compression) so it should sound better.

On DVDs DD is limited to 448 kbit/s, on BD it is 640 kbit/s.
