Which of these receivers are better? Does the 720 have 1.3HDMI? I just bought the 720 for $249.99 but have not opened it yet. While I was in the store I saw an open box STRDG910 for $185. Which one would be a better buy? I am upgrading to use the new formats from my PS3. They will be connected to the RM6750's.

That would depend on whether the 910 passes LPCM or not. I could not find anything that says it does. And many of last years DG models do not. Therefore I would say, if those are your only options then I would keep the 720 because it will let you pass the lossless audios by decoding in your PS3, and sending via LPCM(multi-channel) to your receiver. If you want to spend little more, you can go to techdepot.com and find the 920 just below $400 and the 820 below $300. I think that amazon had an Onkyo 606 for about $330. All three can handle LPCM, and decode the new codecs.
I have the 710, last years model, and it works good, so I would expect the same from the 720, but it would be better if the 710 handled LPCM, which is why I am trading up to the 920. |

I believe the 910 does handle LPCM. I tried to see what the differences are but couldn't determine much. The 910 does have an OSD per the sony site. I am also warry about buying an open box item. Would like to have a pro give me some heads up as I am new to all this.

I double checked the LPCM and it does process it for sure. Just read the owners manual. |

Depending on the decoding capability of your bluray player and your lossless goals, just wanted to add, since you are paying $250 for the 720 which can not decode DTS HD MA nor DolbyTrue HD, you might wanna consider the brand new 820 which is selling for only $277 at Tech Depot [online direct brother of Office depot]
