issue with Yamaha RXV463 and PS3 - Blu-ray Forum

i got the yamaha RXV463 today and for some reason everytime i play a movie on my ps3 or even go back the ps3 main menu i have to select a different setting on the receiver and then click back to the setting that i have my ps3 on...i have to do this a couple times till i get something to show up on the screen. so say if my ps3 is on the DVD setting then i would have to click any other setting on the receiver then click on DVD again to get something from the ps3 to show up on my tv. Anyone ever have this issue?

i grabbed my old sony receiver to see if it would happen with that but it seems to work work great. since the yamaha doesn't work and my sony doesn't have any hdmi in/outputs and seems to be a little out dated i want to try to find another receiver to buy. i only have a 5.1 speaker setup so i'm trying to find another 5.1 receiver unless a 7.1 can recognize a 5.1 setup???...any suggestions? i'm looking to spend under 400.

This one if you're looking for a different brand... a friend of mine has it and it works fine with his PS3, as a matter of fact i see no reason why your yamaha doesnt... maybe someone else can chip in an answer and save you the trouble of getting another receiver

thanks! i'm assuming i won't be having any issues with receivers that are 7.1 and all i will be using is a 5.1 setup. i hooked up the yamaha again and it still does the same thing. i was reading reveiws on cruchfield.com and someone had the same issue i'm having.

You can set any 7.1 receiver to play on your 5.1 setup. You don't need to limit yourself to a receiver only capable of 5.1 sound. What type of connection did you use for the yamaha?

i used an hdmi hook up. i'm sending the yamaha back and i ordered up the onkyo 705.
