haha, I just saw the trailer for TMNT for the first time yesterday but according to this moron they are already working on the HD-DVD. haha. Also. anybody who had compared video between regular DVD and its Blu-ray counterpart know that the differences are very clear to see even to an untrained eye.

I can't understand anything from those little photos. How are we to compare HD and DVD with tiny little screenshots that are so many pixels wide.
So I guess the point is, assuming these pictures are even valid, we will not be able to notice much of a difference on our 5" HDTV????? |

The entire comparison with still frames is stupid. Either format will show a hi-def picture. But that quality is lost when you scale down to the resolution of those photos. I saw a hint of better detail in Spiderman's rump - that's it.
True quality differences come from video play back, and from what I hear and see HD-DVD has better codec's to do so. Blu-ray artifacting doesn't have me enthralled. It's like watching a weak HD signal over the air. Sure, it looks great for moments at a time, then the signal weakens and you see trash. For blu-ray to truly succeed, the next generation needs codecs as good as, or better than Toshiba's. Don't just cut the price and sell us trash. Even if blu-ray becomes the only game in town, word will spread quickly if the picture quality just isn't worth it. That's like improving the Apollo 13 capsul AFTER returning from the moon, but not doing anything with it. Last edited by tron3; 03-08-2007 at 03:51 PM. |

First of all the article was a joke. There is no source to get the Spidey picture. Where did he get it from. Download from the Spiderman 3 trailer most likely. I think tron must have a a few drinks before that post or hes living in July of 2006 when the first titles were not the greatest. We have had consistant releases all which are superior to over air hd which is limited in bandwidth. Whenever i watch over air hd sporting event for example all the fast scences get fuzzy or blurry for a moment. It can't keep up. I have never seen that in any movie in my collection. So lets keep the facts real.

Failure. Venom, in the "high res shot" is noticeably more detailed in the bluray version than DVD. The thing is, if you were actually in front of two decent tvs playing the 1080p BR and 480p DVD versions the difference would be even greater, as well as the overall picture. You'd know exactly which one was better. Very poor comparison.
