Default Motionflow, standard or high.. yer preference

To be honest I had never really messed with this setting and always kept on Standard.. I had read that its best to keep on standard and keep that cinemotion on Auto1

I think older movies look better when turned on High, I was watching TCM and now the Thing. For newer movies I think the picture goes too fast when turned on High.. and I just leave it on Standard

I keep mine on high 99% of the time, you actually get really used to it and sometimes i have to turn it off to realize the difference At first it made me think there was something wrong with my tv becuase i got so used to it.

You could always turn it off, but i think the motion enhancements make the picture a MILLION times more lifelike and eyepopping.

EDIT: BTW blow is a damn good movie

This "no motion blur on my plasma" thing is ridiculous. Film makers know, that you can't pan too fast in 24 frame. It will blur on fast pans, even if you watch it on a $200,000 Christie!

plasma's do not suffer with motion blur! Motion blur on lcd's is excessive blocking, that occurs on lcd screens because they cannot refresh fast enough...intended blur is intended blur, but motion blur is a blocking effect on LCD's that does not happen on plasma's...

Blur isn't intended blur, it's just that movies are still standardized in 24fps, it has it's limitations... While some people say they like the "effect", it's not really an effect, it's just what it is. I am looking forward to them adopting 48fps on movies, they have been talking about it for years.

Brett,

I am sorry you had a bad LCD, but I have never seen blur on my set. Especially in the manner you explain it. Motion blur on lcd's is excessive blocking

Granted, not all sets are created equal. I would say not all plasmas are better than LCDs and not all LCDs are better than plasmas.

Considering the new Samsung LCD had a better motion resolution than all of the plasmas tested, I would call your generalization false.

What makes you think motion blur on LCDs is excessive blocking?
I thought blocking was visible macroblocks caused by, for example, too low a bitrate being used to encode the video? I thought LCD motion blur would be exactly that - blur - the picture content not being updated fast enough - nothing to do with 8x8 or larger macroblocks? (and motion blur caused by the low frame rate of 24fps is something different - an added blur recorded on the film itself)
