All of the Clint Eastwood "spaghetti" westerns for sure. And what is for many an unknown movie..."Duck, You Sucker" with James Coburn and Rod Steiger.

Absolutely! Duck you Sucker is a great film, along with Leone's

Cool! Someone other than me actually remembers and likes this movie! I have the soundtrack on vinyl and it gets cued up regularly. I love Ennio Morricone scores!

Default Little known western classic

One of my favorite westerns is One-Eyed Jacks, starring and directed by Marlon Brandon. It started out as a Stanley Kubrick film and Brandon replaced him as director. I am not recommending this film because I am a big Brando fan. It is just a great western with great performances by Brando (very convincing), Karl Malden (also excellent), Ben Johnson in one of his bad guy roles (proving he really can act), Slim Pickens (great) and many others who do fine jobs. The scenery is beautiful and unusual for a Western. The shots of the outlaws riding along the California coast is a favorite. It is what lovers of Westerns are always looking for - something fresh. Not the same old plot at all.

Now I don't know if anyone with any clout reads these things, but I think this film would sell quite well on blu-ray if it was done well and had a few special features. Throw in a doc on Brando. He has a few fans and I'll bet most of them haven't seen this film. All of the DVD transfers now available are terrible. Now that I have my HDTV, it is hard to watch even as a little "widescreen" in the middle of my big screen.

This film reminds me of what happened to the Searchers, one of the best films of any kind ever made. I grew up on westerns, especially John Wayne westerns, and had never heard of the Searchers until the 1980s. That film all but disappeared for 25-30 years, even though it is now considered by many to be both John Ford's and John Wayne's best picture. For my money, One-Eyed Jacks is Brando's greatest film as an actor. It is his only film as a director. Somebody please restore it and put it on blu-ray.

Every film that's a part of my war collection. Some notable titles are Battleground, To Hell and Back, and Tora! Tora! Tora!. I am just excited that Where Eagles Dare and Kelly's Heroes are being released in 4 days.

As for westerns Open Range, The Horse Soldiers, She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, and The Outlaw Josey Wales would be nice.

Wasn't one of John Wayne's best films in my opinion. I might buy if it gets to be around $15-17, but I refuse to near $30 for a single title in basic packaging whether it's Criterion or not.

Not one of his best films? But it's the one that made him a movie star.

Granted, he became a better actor over the years, and gave arguably better performances in Red River and The Searchers - but he would never have gotten to star in those movies if it hadn't been for Stagecoach in the first place.
