Looks like Seth is planning on doing a Family Guy Movie

Right on the heels of posting that Cleveland Show preview I have just caught word that Seth MacFarlane is working on making an animated Family Guy movie. Amazing because it took the Simpsons over 10 years to get a television series and it seems like Family Guy is well on its way.

In an interview with TV Week MacFarlane says, "We want to do it. And it is time. In the past six months we have seriously started talking about it. And my hope is that we will get it going within the next year. Doing the show is a seven-day a week process, so I don't know how we will squeeze in a movie. But we will figure it out. I have an idea about what it will be. It is definitely something you wouldn't be able to do on the show. That's the only reason to do a movie."

He also went on to confirm that they will include nudity and obscenities. Now if you have ever watched the show on TV you will know what he means by nudity. I am really excited to see what they dream up for a full fledged film. Hopefully the can make a MOVIE and not just a TV episode that runs 90 minutes.And he got a 100 million dollar deal with fox to keep Family Guy on the Air till at least 2012

That wasn't a movie ,it was just three episodes that fit together as one. They are three episodes that they released together on DVD. And I will get link.

This is really good news! I really enjoyed The Simpsons movie as they actually made it into a movie and not just a really long episode.

I'm sure that Family Guy will be able to pull it off as well considering I find it a better TV Show.

The one where Stewie go away to look for his "real" dad who turned out to be

felt like a movie, not a bunch of episodes put together. But if there's a new one, I'm all for it

Though The Simpsons didn't have a 3 year cancellation gap like Family Guy did.

Been a lot of talk for a long time now. If they are going to do I hope it is in the next couple of years.

Also give us something huge for the big screen debut... I hope Seth and crew avoid the main gripe that I had with the Simpson's movie... I mean after all those years waiting for that movie and the story wouldn't have been out of place in a three part episode, there was just no cinematic scope or scale to it!

This is definitely a shocker (to me at least ), but nothing has been 100% confirmed yet. However, in an interview with Seth McFarlane, he revealed a little more about the movie, including the fact that it may contain some live action.

MCFARLANE: I can say with definitive assuredness that it will be out. Within the next few years. We already know what it's gonna be. We've been trying to lock into something that makes it so that it has to be a movie, as opposed to an extended Family Guy episode. And I like The Simpsons Movie, but that's something they could do with animation on TV because they're not constrained by sets. [...] You have to find some way to make it so that it has to be a movie.

CAROLLA: Are you hinting at some live action?

MCFARLANE: Possibly, possibly. Here and there. It will not be a 90-minute Family Guy episode.

At least a couple of episodes have had live action that I can think of.

Adam West and Rob Lowe appeared as themselves (where the entire Family Guy universe existed as an atom in their bedside lamp). There was also a quick bit with Alyssa Milano and her lawyer ("I'm suing, I'm suing!").

McFarlane told Wired about the possible movie:

We want to do it. Fox wants it. We know what we want to do with it. It’s just a question of finding the time. That’s why The Simpsons took so many years to do theirs. It wasn’t because they didn’t know what they wanted to do with it. They just couldn’t fit it into the schedule. There’s so much to do for a weekly animated series — twice as much as you have to do for a live-action show. So, we’re finding time where we can. We’re in the early stages right now.
