Default The PS3 has the best 2008 Game Lineup

To those who still think that the PS3 is sub-par as a gaming platform

Quote:
Joystiq has done some data diving through Metacritic and come up with some interesting results.

They looked only at games that scored 85% or better on MetaCritic and this is what they found:

October was the most crowded month for quality titles with 12 released, followed by November (8), September (7) and April (6).
Breaking it down by console, PlayStation 3 has the most presence on the list with 22 titles, followed by Xbox 360 (20), PC (15), Nintendo Wii (8), DS (7), PSP (2) and PS2 (1).
The best-reviewed game this year? April's Grand Theft Auto IV (98%), followed by a three-way tie between LittleBigPlanet, BioShock and World of Goo (95%) -- all three of which were released in October. Metal Gear Solid 4 and Wrath of the Lich King are the next tier below at 94%.
Of the 55 titles listed, 13 (or approximately 24%) were not based on an existing franchise: Sins of a Solar Empire, Patapon, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Braid, The World Ends with You, Boom Blox, World of Goo, GRID, Pure, LittleBigPlanet, Dead Space and Valkyria Chronicles.

I did some digging:

Another fun fact: Xbox had 6 exclusives on the list (4 of which were XBLA), PS3 had 6 exclusives on the list (1 was PSN), Wii had 5 (3 Wii Ware)

P.S: I still find it ridiculous that WipEout HD, imo one of the top tier games of 2008, only got 87 at Metacritic but that will have to do...

MGS4 is like TDK. The people who really know what they're talking about award both 5 stars. The care and creativity that went into both is something we haven't seen and something we won't see for a while. I mean, a 94 for MGS4? C'mon! GTAIV got a higher rating...

Anyone that says ps3 doesnt have much games is just stuck in the past.

Theres so many games its hard to learn the controls or finish one because theres another one i am buying lol.

And the online gaming is so much better now...Once you play the game your playing the online part too.

Ps3 keeps pumping out alot of great games, And i am not complaining keep them coming!

Awesome, I knew this from experience already but it's interesting to read about too.
I have always loved the PS3's line-up though, even when people said it sucked. Games last me a lot longer then the average kid on a message board it seems. A week after a new release they're already whining about how there's nothing else to play.
