Default sony s350 component out will not work with HDMI connected HELP

Ok, ive tried everything under the video output headings including setting it to component out. Ive also tried changing the resolution in case my projector cant handle the signal but I cannot get a picture to my projector. Just the tv via HDMI. The manual says it can be done. I can get a picture to the projector if I disconnect the hdmi cable so it must be something somewhere in the setup but I cant find it. Ive also tried to reset the factory settings. ANY help would be much appreciated... thanks in advance

I had a similar problem a while back with a projector. Is your projector HDCP compliant?

Im not sure! im rubbish with technical terms but can usually troubleshoot problems but this is the 1st time im beaten. I have got a picture to the projector using the component cable and the picture is fine so I guess it is hdcp compliant. Its not full hd but it does have a 1080 input setting. My problems start when the hdmi cable is connected. Thanks for the reply

What is your projector's model number? I'm thinking it's some sort of HDMI handshaking issue.

Its a sanyo plvz1. The thing that baffles me is the picture will go to the projector ok. If I couldnt get a pic to it at all I would probably give up but its the hdmi cable thing thats bugging me. The manual says the player will output through both ok too...

Thanks again

It looks like you are using a RGB to HDMI cable, seeing as the z1 doesn't have an HDMI input. Am I right? I am still searching, but as far as I know, your projector is not HDCP compliant which means that you will have to use the component cables for image. I'm going to continue reading, though.
