Default Keep Or Sell Ps3 60gb?

What would you do?
I have a BNIB 60gb model bought at bb.com last week. Picked it up just because. We have a ps2 so the bc is not a big issue. would you A) sell it for a profit and buy one of the newer 80 or 160gb models that runs quieter and cooler? B) Just keep it boxed up and sealed and then sell it further down the road when the supply of NIB models has really dried up and hope for a further price increase on the secondary market. or C) just use it and not worry about the louder fan noise and temp compared to the newer models

depends how much you care about the noise factor. But I wouldn't hope to sit on it and sell it later because there is still a possibility that they will come out with another backwards compatible model or have a software update to make all of the backwards compatible.

also there will probably be a price cut in the near future so that would devalue it even more.

is the 60g much louder?

besides blu-ray, my main factor in going from xbox to ps3 was the noise.

the 360 sounds like a freakin jet fighter is fly thru my living room.

i cant hear my ps3 (new 80g) unless all other equipment is off.. my cable box is louder than the ps3.

Weird.. my 60gb has less fan noise than my dad's 80gb. The 40gb down at the lakehouse IS pretty quiet, but I'd keep it comparable with the 60gb... Once you have it on for all hours of the day though I do notice the 40gb seems to keep its cool better than the 60gb, but that's really not a big deal since we're talking about two really quiet units.

Dude said it best.. my cable box is louder than my PS3

Only noticeably so for Folding@Home and it used to be(?) for DVD upscaling as well .. but I haven't watched a DVD in some time .. and firmware updates were constantly improving the fan kicking in or not .. so not sure of the current DVD status anymore.

+1 I seriously thought that my PS3 was making all kinds of racket until I was dusting my entertainment center & heard all the noise coming from my DVR! I have never had any issues (knocks on wood) with my 60gb & I have had it since March 2007. I rarely turn it off because when I'm not playing BD's or games I'm Folding@Home. I'd keep the 60gb model & sell the PS2 but that's my opinion. Good Luck!

Default decided to sell the 60gb

managed to sell the 60gb and strike while the iron was hot on ebay.
sold for $725, so after fees will profit a little over $100 or so. will use that to pay off the 60gb on the cc and then use the leftover profit to subsidize either the 80gb or the newer 160gb pacakage, plus i was lucky enough to win the best buy certificate on the amex wish list where if you spend $600 you get a $150 credit on your amex card balance so all in all should be able to pick up some good stuff for a good price.

I'd sell it now. You're going to get more for xmas since it's 60gb with BC than anytime of the year. Just make sure they know that. If you wait TOO long a new version with BC might come out and you'll be screwed.
