Default Grainy image (HELP!)

heh guys i have got a philips 22" 3000 series with a 80 gb playstation 3 and connected with a monster hdmi cable!
there is a very grainy image on my screen when i watch blu rays (not a problem with games), it works fine on my 37" samsung but not on the 22". i have tried all of my tv and playstation settings and am at a loss.....any suggestions????????

Grain is inherent to film, so it is not a negative. That being said have you tried turning down the sharpness on your display? If that is set at a high level it can add noise to an image. Also, you should turn off any noise reduction or mosquito noise settings that might be enable when watching blu-ray movies.

well i haveried the matrix and the dark knight and they show alot of grain! its defineatly not in the picture because when i try them on my high def tv downstairs it works fine

So maybe it's really like digital noise you are seeing and not grain? Like signal degradation?

It could be either the sharpness setting or a bad hdmi cable. Have you tried using another hdmi cable perhaps from the other tv? What if you connect the ps3 via component?
