How does Comcast connect HD?

My dad just got an HD-DVR from Comcast, and was hooking it up with a coaxil from the wall to the box, then components to the tv. I told him that you can't get HD from coaxil cables, so he called Comcast, and they said thats how it does work. Is that right that you can get HD signal through coaxil? I'm not talking about from the box to the tv, i'm talking about from the wall to the box?

yes....my cable box is connected from the wall to the cable box via rg6 coxal cable.....your dad could then use either HDMI or ypbpr(rca style cable) cables (more than likely whats supplied from comcast) to get his hd picture on his tv

I work for a cable company in Florida and you can get local HD Stations to come in via a built in receiver (until Febuary 17, 2009). However you will need components/HDMI from the box to the hdtv to receive all other HD Stations. Hope this helps you out!

I have the new box that comcast came out with and i just have mine hooked up to the wall through coax and then to the box to the tv with hdmi and the picture looks great

Coax to HDDVR to HDMI or Component = 1080i or 720p signal through your provider.

For cable, that's the only way to get a signal so why wouldn't he use a coaxial cable? If he didn't go from the wall to the box with a coax, then you would get no signal at all.

Thanks guys. I had no idea that that would work. I didn't know what other way there would be for it to work though so I was confused.
