Default Comcast HD

Dont know where to post this, but, I'm pretty sure people will appreciate this.

I currently have Comcast Digital Cable with 4 boxes total in the house. We have Starz, HBO, and Showtime with our package. I didnt go for an HD box because really, the PS3 satisfies my HD needs. Anyway, last week, I had to move my box to another room and didnt have a box for a couple days. I figure I can just have basic cable with no box. I can live without the ondemand service and premium channels for a couple days.

So I went ahead and did an auto scan on my Sammy. It scanned all the way up to 125 or something. After that, it automatically did another scan. Im thinking, It was finished but I guess it was doing more scanning. After it was all said and done, I had two different sources. TV and DTV. TV was the basic cable going up to 70 channels and DTV was HD!!! I've been enjoying NFL football and the Olympics in glorious HD for free!!

BTW, when in DTV, the channels are coming up as 71.4 71.5 80.1 80.2 80.3 etc...I also noticed a couple channels were being broadcasted in 720p. Shame on cable providers forcing us to pay $5 extra a month for a box.

Has anyone else found this out? Or am I somehow receiving the feeds illegally?
