Default Just bought the 50pz85u but I have some questions

Hello,

I've been up and down the forums both here and at avsforums and I finally took the plunge and bought the 85u. This is my first HDTV and I got it for $1399 and wanted to know if I paid too much? I have 30 days to get the difference if I find it cheaper elsewhere. My budget was limited and after reading every post regarding the 85u that I could find, made what I felt was an educated purchase.

I'll be receiving it Saturday and plan on going through the break-in process though not by means of the SD card or a looping DVD. I plan on making sure everything is zoomed in, will refrain from playing games with static huds and so on. Will that be sufficient?

Also, I've read many posts about how Panasonic's tend to be limited in terms of what changes can be made in the service menu. I can't remember who, but someone put me at ease by stating that if you find a good calibrator they won't complain about the limitations, rather they'll make sure the TV looks the best that it can. Can anyone point me to such a calibrator in the Southern California area? Near Los Angeles if possible

I apologize up front if my questions may have been answered. I'm new to this HDTV stuff

you got a great price on it! was that total, or do you have to add tax + shipping?

How could you not know if you paid too much considering how much time you claim to have spent "reading every post regarding the 85u that [you] could find..."?
If you had indeed "been up and down the forums both here and at avsforums", then presumably you also researched the hell out of the price and know quite well if you paid too much.

Amazon is a good indicator on price. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-Vier...9696788&sr=8-4

If your price included shipping/taxes, then yes - you got a good price. If not, then you just paid a little more

Break in periods are not necessary and are a waste of electricity. Set your brightness and other items low and just use caution. You will be set. It's all common sense.

Calm down.
It seems the LCD vs Plasma war is equal in might to the Break-In or not to Break-In dispute.

Another "source" for looking at price fluctuations for a particular tv is Nextag:
