God of War - Blu-ray Forum

so i have been following news on god of war 3 as it progresses and it looks amazing. i have always been a xbox guy and honestly have hated playstation and PS2. now that i am older and have an actual income, i have both the 360 and the ps3. i originally bought the PS3 for the blu player and to be able to have a good baseball game to play (the show), but now i enjoy having both consoles for games. anyways.. after that rambling, here is my question. since i have always been a xbox guy, i never got the chance to play god of war 1 or 2. are they worth renting to try and play both of them before god of war 3 comes out?!?

I definitely think so..The first two are classics IMO. I think they are at the top if not close to being the best ps2 games..and after finishing them your going to understand more the hype around this game!! its not just graphics but the gameplay is GREAT!!

No, don't rent them.......BUY them and do it NOW!

I had never played them before either until I got my PS3 and I got hooked. They are some of the best games ever.

same here.never had a PS2 and bought GoW after 2 came out and people where taking about 3 on PS3. I don't think you really need it to play or understand 3 but the games are extremely good and worth playing.

Buy them NOW! They are absolutly awesome. You will not regret it. Your PS3 is backwards compatible right?

I agree with everyone here, you definitely need to play 1 and 2.

You will insult Kratos if you don't play them. Look albeit the story can be made straight forward simple there are a ton of little things that make the big picture. Epic battles, Epic levels, Epic well everything. These games need to be played.

played the first on release day...and i was just taken away. everything about the game was groundbreaking for that time. i had never played a game like that before. then god of war 2 came and in the first level i played the biggest boss ever in a video game (at least before SotC came out) and everything was so smooth. awesome weapons and mechanics. i'm really stoked about 3. i say for 20 dollars a pop (cheaper if you look around) its not a good price, its a steal! do yourself a favor and pick this up for a fraction of a "next gen" game price

What model PS3? If you have a newer one, don't bother buying them. You won't be able to play them. If you have a 20GB, 60GB, Motorstorm 80GB or MGS4 80GB then go for it.

God of War 1 and 2 are two of the best games available on the PS2. If you have a backwards compatible PS3, go out and buy both - they're relatively inexpensive, and they're completely awesome.

i love the 1st two. i'm contemplating how to justify buying a PS3 to my wife so i can play the 3rd one.

justify a PS3 purchase?

dude, if you have the money for a PS3 you should have one already.
if you have the money for 4 of them, get 4 of them.

just get the PS3 and it'll justify itself trust me.
too many things to do, you'll run its worth in use in about 2 months.

it's not having to justify the hardware & quality, it's having to decide if i'll have time to play or not.

we've got a 3 year old and a 7 month old @ home. i have a full time job and then a business i work on the weekends (somewhere between 8 & 12 hours).

when my son was born in May, i didn't pick up my xbox controller until after Thanksgiving.
