yeah, this game looks sick. Saw the trailer yesturday (it's everywhere now). I loved GoW1. Wonder if it's downloadable off of the PS Store in 1080p.

Not yet, but I know they are supposed to have it soon. I'm not sure if it will be in HD though. The first God of War supported 480P so hopefully this one will also.

I haven't followed the GOW seriers, but the game play looks a lot like the Prince of Persia series

Its more of a fighting game than pop...
pop is more like tomb raider with the fighting being tacked on (or tomb raider is more like pop).

GOW is more like devil may cry.

Trailer is so hot, ITS LIKE LAVA! I kinda wish sony pulled a nintendo and turned this into a epic PS3 title, but the PS2 is still such a huge market, it will sell tons even to ps3 owners.

If you go back to gamevideos.com they have the whole demo running in three parts. I downloaded each video from the site rather then watching it in the small streaming screen. Its better quality.

God of War plays like a cross between Prince of Persia (the last two games) and Devil May Cry. Last generation was the return of the action game with tittles like Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Prince of Persia (Warrior Within and Two Thrones) and God of War. I'm excited to see what this new generation will bring us.

Keep in mind that God of War II pictured above is for the PS2....7 year old hardware!

saw the original first God Of War version of PS2 at a local used CDs store for $10....should i buy it and play it on my PS3?

I loved God of War I have played through it several times. My gf even says when i play it to let her know cause she likes to watch me play that one.She really likes the story. Really looking forward to God of War II. One of the best games ever.

picked up GOW over the weekend for $10..and now I'm hooked.

Btw, with the new 1.5 firmware, the PS3 backward compatiblity for POW is great...great picture (widescreen, progressive scan), great sounds (surround).

I do wish POW II to be released for PS3 at 1080p..but i know it won't happen anytime soon.

I'm dreaming already of GOW III for the PS3.

you'll be asleep for a while then. The last I heard, GOW3 is only in the conceptual stages. We are probably looking at late 08' at the earliest. bummer.

I saw the pause screen for the GOW2 demo. It also has the widescreen option and progressive scan option that the first one has. I didnt see any hint of resolution selection however. It would be nice if there was a 1080i/or 720p option in the game for the ps3 users. Those screenshots look to good to come from a 480p game.
GT4 had an option for 1080i. They can do it in ps2 games, there is no reaon for gow2 not to...!!!!

I suspect at some point there will be an upscaling/upconverting feature added to the PS3, but to give credit where it's due: The GOW game's built in pro scan and widescreen options look quite good even as is. Very respectable, especially when you consider the games are being made for 7 year old hardware (Ps2.)

^^ It just boggles my mind to imagine what a few years' from now is going to look like on the PS3, with that kind of precedent.
