Why is my heater blowing cold air? - Blu-ray Forum

Last night my AC/heater unit started blowing cold air when the heat was supposed to be on, which actually droped the temp in the house. I don't think the motor is running when the heat is on, so I think all the rain we have gotten recently has shorted the motor. I just had the motor replaced 6 months ago. Why would a new motor do this?

Huh? If it's blowing the motor should be turning. The furnace lights a pilot then the blower kicks on. Sometimes the flame will go out but the blower will stay on, blowing cold air.

There is a flame sensor associated with the furnace. If you remove and clean it with some sandpaper, it may fix everything. It'll be a metal rod looking thing right near the front but pointing into where the flame would be.

Do you have gas heat? Or do you have a heat pump?

I am pretty sure it is a heat pump.

Is it a Gas or Electric system? Sounds like a heat pump of course but more info is needed.

I think it is electric, not gas? I'm not home so I can't pull the grills off the unit to look. It is a Lennox, if that helps.

that what it sound like to me. I have a very old furnace and it goes through igniting switches every couple of years.

Ours at work would attempt to cool the room to the requested heat level that generally did not work.

Through in our case it was always the pilot light going out...
