Default My engine is dying!!!

#(*%&#()%*&q(#)%(

Last night, I went to drop off my wife's brother at home and I turned the car on. The oil light stayed on and the engine was knocking. I took it to my friend and he said the piston is getting ready to break through and the engine will seize if I keep driving it.

This is horrible. It's my daily driver to work. My wife's older brother said it's because of the engine flush I had done.

Every manufacturer is having deals right now, because none of them are selling.

2k for an engine swap installed.

That would be a down payment for a new car.

Sorry to here that Mike but he is right you should never flush your engine especially one with a lot of miles. 2,000 isn't bad for an engine swap but just make sure that the engine that you are getting was running and not sitting in a junk yard somewhere not running.

Having worked in an auto shop for 5 years, the oil light/engine noise is not a good thing. The moment you saw the light, you should have shut it off. It can take less then a minute to wreck an engine. If you are lucky, the knock you heard was just valve lash, as no oil meant they did not 'pump up'. More likely, however, is mechanical damage from moving metal surfaces touching each other. The engine could be toast.

I am not a fan of flushing the engine. If you change the oil regularly, sludge and other deposits should not be a problem.

There is visible wear on the camshaft that shows it was operating for a while without oil.

The owner of the lube place where i got the engine flush just called me for some info. He needs the invoice number so he can look up the transaction. Told me that he just got a letter from the Better Business Bureau.

Going to give him the info once I get home. Might be able to fix my old car out of this!
