Default Cooling Equipment

Anyone have any tips on what I should use to cool my receiver/ps3/dvd players?

Right now in the cabinet they are in, things tend to get a bit heated as the ventilation is not really ideal for the situation so I'd like to put some sort of fan to get air moving. I'm not sure where to buy or even what to buy.

Eventually when my basement is finished, this will not be a problem but at least if it does become one, I'll have the fan ready to go.

There are some aftermarket fans that can be attached directly to the equipment or to the back of a cabinet. I think coolerguys.com was one of those sites, but offhand I don't remember. Hopefully someone else can chime in as I know there are a few members that use aftermaket fans on some equipment.

someone from this site recommended to me a fan that has a thermostat built in, that way it only kicks on when you need it, as is not just running whenever it gets power. Look on ebay.

I have this on my Onkyo 805 and it works to complete perfection.

It all depends on what kind of stand or enclosure you have. Also, I would try and work out a way to keep your PS3 out of any enclosure. With a little creativity, I'm sure you can come up with something acceptable.

I have a dual fan setup in my media cabinet, and it does a great job. It is thermostatically controlled and has 2 120mm DC fans that come on when the ambient temp. reaches 85 deg. F.

This is the kit that I have:
http://www.coolerguys.com/840556082224.html

Very easy to install since it comes with a mounting plate. I have a infrared temp. gun that I used to take some before and after measurements with. Temps. at the top of my receiver were over 100 deg. F before the fan install, after they rarely get above 91 deg. F.

Here is a picture of them in my cabinet:

The other fan is on the opposite side of that center divider.
