High-Def Digest Spreading Blu-ray FUD - Fixed!

In an article currently posted on their site about the recent Panasonic version 2.0 firmware update ( http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...HD_Support/582), High-Def Digest printed this interesting tidbit of misinformation:

...Of all present Blu-ray players on the market, only select models -- including Sony's PlayStation 3 -- are able to extract the 1.5mbps DTS "core" of DTS-MA tracks....

Now, we all know this is false. ALL Blu-ray players - not just 'select models' - are capable of extracting the 1.5Mbps core dts track from any DTS-HD or DTS-HD MA program as we who have had our Panasonic, Samsung, Phillips, and Pioneer stand-alones have been doing all along. WTF?

bah. That's incredibly misappropriate! Now having a one year anniversary and posting misinformation like that which lots of unwitting persons will see and believe. The site must do a retraction and correct this with a note saying so.

Total lie. HDD is the last source I go to, for any kind of Blu-ray info. They stink, and I don't like 'em!

I think we need to work harder on prying you out of that shy phase you're in so you can really tell us more clearly how you feel about things.

I was wondering about that DTS info when I read it. If all BDPs can do this then someone needs to email him. If it's false I'm sure they'll fix it.

I guess Peter figured his BD player was one of the select few. He never seemed to miss mentioning the DTS core in his reviews.

They were having a corrections day, it seems:

Editors note: An earlier version of this story broadly attributed Warner's decision not to support IME on Blu-ray titles to "delayed release of Blu-ray's BD-Java authoring environment." As has since been correctly pointed out to us, primary support of BD-J is in fact present and functional in all Blu-ray Disc players.
Instead, it is secondary audio/video support of BD-J (a hardware feature
especially useful in providing picture-in-picture features) that remains less prevalent, although the BDA recently announced that it will become mandatory in new player models released after Oct 31st, 2007. We regret the error.

At least they are correcting the errors.
