Default High Def Digest: Sony plans Blu-ray player price drop for Christmas

Not as much as I was hoping, but it's MSRP

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/news...n_the_Way/1140

Quote:
Glasgow's comments came during a twice-a-year media roundtable in New York, where according to published reports, the exec said that it expected prices for its standalone players to drop by 20 percent or more this holiday to around $399.
As for speculation that the company's standalone player prices could decline even further, Glasgow says don't count on it. TWICE Magazine quotes the exec as saying "I don’t expect it to go much lower than that."
Sony Blu-Ray @ $349 or under soon?
Hopefully they can get to the sub-$300 ($299 anyone?) which I think is psychologically where the bar is for quality HD experience in the larger public (and not crappy souped up DVD players).
