Default Power Conditioning??

I just ordered an Onkyo 806 and was looking to upgrade my surge protection to a power conditioner but do not know much about them. I see that Monster has a good selection but witch one to go with, or is there another brand that is just as good or better and cost less? What should I look for?

APC, Tripp-Lite and Panamax are all good options.

Search the forums and you will see a few threads that discuss options and models in detail.

rdemystang, just my two cents, but I just purchased this one:

http://www.buyuptime.com/commerce/st...product_id=H15

I heard that it was highly regarded and all of the reviews seem great. On amazon it usually fetches around 250-350. There's more about it on this forum:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=73259

Be sure and read through a few pages of the forum because there's a wealth of information on them and also some healthy debate.

Yes but you'd be paying around the full price which is roughly 200-280 more

I meant to call and ask them if they'd sell me that model in black but forgot. It'll match my DVR anyways. They did say that unit was being discontinued and they don't know how much longer they'll have it.

Thats weak! Why should the black one cost more than the silver? They are the exact same piece of equipment (except for the color)

Word of advice, they are great to have, but do not buy it looking for an improvement in video/audio... buy it for piece of mind

I bought the HT-10 for about $115 shipped. It's a model below the HT-15 and it has LED's rather than the LCD screen. Already had it trim the line for me once. Overall I feel it was a solid purchase and a good product- very solid and heavy.

The panamax 5300pm is real light, i was surprised, i was expecting it to be as heavy as a tank. whats up with that? it feels like nothing is inside.

I learned that the hard way (remember me?)

Funny thing is i took my 5300 back to bestbuy but now i want it back
they do there job but only if theres a problem. dont expect to see any improvment if theres nothing to improve.

I live in Florida which is notorious for dirty power. The 5300 cured all my popping issues and made a noticeable improvement in the audio. I agree that the purchase shouldn't be made expecting A/V improvements but it certainly is possible.

He's not saying they dont work, he's saying dont go looking for the next revelation with AQ and PQ.
as i said before they do there job but only if theres a problem. i guess i didn't have that big of a problem cause i didn't see a jump in PQ. it did however get rid off the flickering and noise i was having with my tv. it gave me clean power

In other words i was expecting to much.
EDIT- oh and guess what guys........my tv is starting to flicker again, and i get noise to. so they do work, but only if theres a problem.

I think that should be a disclaimer on power conditioners.

I agree. Revelation is unlikely for most.

Is your TV flickering no matter what the source is?

Well it goes away and comes back, like right now its now doing it. everything is clean, no noise no nothing. but then other days i see white lines, flicker, all kinds of crap.

By the way is that you in the user profile?
