Question View Blu-ray movies from my hard drive on my new HDTV!? Help!

Hey folks, my first post, and first forum joined in 2009. lol...Thanks DRC72 for referring me.

Anyway, I've always been wanting to do this, but I just bought a new HDTV w/ full 1080p resolution, and 120MHz refresh rate. HD channels looks pretty amazing.

I have some Blu-ray content on my laptop that I would like to somehow view on my new TV.

The file extension is .mkv some of the time. I don't have a Blu-ray player/burner for either my TV or my laptop, either. Does this present a problem? I have PowerDVD 8 Ultra, and the program boasts about how it can handle this, that, and the other Blu-ray-wise! Unless I'm doing something wrong, it doesn't do @#$%^&

So I came upon this VideoLAN player (VLC), and that baby seems to play back eeeeverything. Are you guys familiar with this player? It's actually even free, and keeps getting better with every new upgrade.

Anyway, back to my original question. With the above information, what would I need to get, if anything, in order to play .mkv, and other Blu-ray content on my beautiful new TV??

Thanks everyone, and a Happy New Year to all of you!

Since you don't have a BD player or burner on your laptop or for your TV, you obviously don't own any BD's and have downloaded pirated BD content.

Major league no no here. Find another site for your illegal activities.
