i think the writer of that story used just a little bit of creative twisting to make that quote say "joker to return for batman 3?" he wasnt saying they were going to bring the joker back for sure, and if they were, how big a part to a third film he would even have. but at this point in the creative process, im sure they dont want to rule anything out, the writer was just trying to grab web hits in my opinion.

I heard they have so many extra footage shots of the Joker, they can use that for the third film if they wish.

Yeah, I don't see anything from the comments that was either out of line or in any way implied that Joker would be back in the next Batman.

The Joker appearance should only be a cameo if anything and should be a combination maybe old and un-used footage of Heath Ledger with CGI or double or something. Personally, I would rather just leave Joker as is, in arkham and have his story be competle in Nolan's universe.

that's not what has been said before. nolan has said he has no extra scenes left out of the original movie making the theatrical cut the actual director's cut.

I heard that too, but I don't remeber where. I think it was right when Ledger died and I read it somewhere

Completely agree. Hey, they switched actors (for the worse) from the first to the second...why not do it again from the 2nd to the 3rd.

Which actor? Maggie is way better than Katie Holmes. She is tops on the worst actresses list.

Who ever attempts to replace Heath as the Joker would commit Career suicide. Leave him in Arkam, and have Riddler or Catwoman be the villian.

I think Nolan will be bring Catwoman in the third, cause the little clue in the converstaion between Fox and Bruce. When Fox said he would be fine against Cats. IMHO.

Are you kidding?

As much as Katie isn't a good actress, Maggie was even MORE mis-cast.

I was at a party the other night and the conversation echoed the comments that a good friend of mine made when he watched it with me: "I really wish the Joker would stop calling her beautiful. She is NOT beautiful."

She was horribly out of place.

It doesn't matter what Roven said. He is correct in saying that the character should be separated from the actor. Under normal circumstances, when you don't have iconic characters you can always have the same character show up in a later installment.

Having said that, however, in this case, it would not be a good idea. The only reason is that Heath Ledger did an excellent job of performing the role. That is why a lot of people can't see anyone playing the part. To bring the Joker back this soon as a central character would be difficult because there will always be the comparison to Ledger's performance and that would destroy a sequel even if the story was great and the replacement actor's performance was also great but different.

For a different movie like Heath Ledger's final movie "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus", the producer had 3 other actor playing the role that Heath Ledger started. Why? Because the story allows for this to happen. Each of the substituting actors (Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell) are playing different representation of the character started by Ledger.

i kept waiting for her face to fall off. i couldn't tell if she was 30 or 60.

much preferred katie holmes. and i much prefer in the 3rd movie they move onto new villains. joker had a great run, let's leave it at that.
