what BD do you use to demonstrate the POWER of blu!? - Blu-ray Forum

hi everyone, im new to this site, so i am not sure if a similar topic has been created in the past. i was just wondering what bd's you all use as demo material when you want to show off ur system

i normally use:

dark knight - the first imax scene of the film
kung fu panda - to show how outstanding animated films look in blu!

Die Hard 4 and The Fifth Element have been my top for a while, but I'm adding Kung Fu Panda to my list as well. The PQ is great as to be expected from a recent animated film, but the AQ REALLY surprised me. Definitely one of the best TrueHD mixes I've heard to date.

If I had the chance to demonstrate the beauty of HD, I'd show Pixar Animations.

Lately I use Kung Fu Panda and the IMAX scenes from The Dark Knight (same as the OP).

I, Robot, Sunshine, Cars, Blade Runner, 2001, Planet Earth, Casino Royale, etc. Depends on the person. I usually try to pick something they're interested in. But yeah, the IMAX scenes in TDK are great demo material.

My friends were blown away by the clarity of that when we watched it on the Batman Begins BD. I also tried to literally compare the difference using the DVD disc included with the Sleeping Beauty BD, but I was surprised (tho' I guess I shouldn't have been) that the girls had a hard time seeing the difference.

Also, I think some of my friends get distracted by just watching stuff on my larger screen.

I've yet to use Cars as an example. I'll pro'ly do that next time for new friends who come over.

Sleeping Beauty blows me away. The color is ridiculous!

I've heard the Batman Begins BD is just alright?

TDK for the most part, also Baraka, Ratatouille (my first BD purchase!), and Wall-E.

I would leave that up to the person and choose a movie I know they like, if I have it.

Usually Top Gun.

I know that it isn't the highest rated Blu for PQ or AQ but friends my age (early 30s) have all seen it dozens of times and know what it looked and sounded like before Blu.

Opening scene on the carrier deck, now with 50% moar Kenny Loggins goodness.

After that I'll spin some TDK, KFP, Days of Thunder, Baraka, Ironman, etc.

Kung Fu Panda is great. i watched it back to back on standard dvd then blu. the biggest thing i noticed was Po's fur is white tipped on the ends. u don't see that on the standard dvd but on blu, it really stands out.

007- Casino Royale and Iron Man.

You are so right, the opening sequence of The Dark Knight is frickn' beautiful. I think I will do the same. I can't think of a better scene to showcase exactally what Blu can do!

PQ - Cars
AQ - Top Gun
Both - Band of Brothers
