Default 360 Elite... Is it worth getting?

Currently I own PS3 and Wii, I been thinking about the new 360 Elite now they offer HDMI. Any current owner of Elite can share some opinions? Im not a big FPS fan so besides Gears and Halo, what else is good on the 360? Need some honest input to help me with my decision. Thanx.

I own a premium 360. If you dont like halo or gears dont get one. Seriously, I only own halo, gear and lost planet.

I currently have an Xbox 360 Premium as well (also have a Wii and PS3), however I don't know if the additional "stuff" you get with the Elite is worth the money. As far as HD goes, if you will be using it for HD content as far as videos, TV shows or movies (which are only at 720p right now), go with the Elite, you will need the 120 GB HD. If not the 20 GB HD is sufficient. I have about 40 XBLA games and various demos, game trailers, game saves, and DLC for multiple games and still have over 8 GB free.

As far as the HD connection goes, I don't think the HDMI is worth the premium, it's not even HDMI 1.3. If you end up going with the HD-DVD drive then HDMI would be a plus since right now only Xbox 360 games are written with 720p or 1080i, and HD-DVD's are up to 1080p. I don't know a game out now that is 1080p, except for Virtua Tennis which I don't think is out yet.

Personally, on what the Xbox 360 has to offer, I've seen screen shots of both the HDMI and Component outputs and really the difference is not that noticeable. The only other difference is that the console is black, every other aspect of the two consoles is the same.

Hope this helps a little bit.

As far as games, I enjoy multiple types of games and there are some different, and good games for the 360 which are not FPS's. A couple that I like are Viva Piniata, Splinter Cell, Guitar Hero II, and Crackdown. As far as other games that are really good are of course Gears, and Halo 3 when it comes out. Some that are coming out which look phenominal are BioShock (FPS), Mass Effect (RPG), Alan Wake (Thriller), GTA IV, Too Human (Adventure), The Orange Box (Half-Life 2, Episode 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2), Forza 2 (Racing), Blue Dragon (RPG) and there are some more which are on the tip of my brain but can't think of them. All of these and more will be coming out this year and a majority (right now) are Xbox 360 exclusive.

The one thing I love about my 360 are Achievements! These are highly addictive and make the games more enjoyable in a new way. I makes you want to play through the game different ways, so you are not restricted to beating the game once and never pick it up again, it adds to the replay value.

I play my 360 more than any one of my other consoles (right now), but I only use my PS3 to watch none other than, BLU-RAY!

Added...
Shadowrun (FPS), The Darkness (Action FPS), Unreal Tournament III (FPS, might be 2008), Assassins Creed (Action RPG), Lost Odyssey (Action RPG) and Alone in the Dark (Thriller)

"And while the Elite supposedly delivers DVD upscaling via HDMI, our initial tests found the DVD image to be just as disappointing as the earlier 360--regardless of the resolution of the image...

...And that's pretty much what the Elite is delivering for its $480 price tag. The black color scheme, HDMI output, and larger hard drive are all decent step-ups from the 20GB Xbox 360 (which remains on the market for $400), but the Elite is something of a disappointment when compared to the $600 PlayStation 3. A next-gen disc player, a Wi-Fi adapter, and a flash media reader--all standard on the PS3--remain optional add-ons for the Elite. Meanwhile, other design shortcomings of the original Xbox 360 seem to have remained more or less unchanged: there are still only three USB ports, the external power brick is still the size of a Volkswagen, and the DVD drive is still annoyingly loud. Moreover, the Elite supposedly doesn't even incorporate the rumored cooler-running 65nm CPU that's been talked about for months, so the internal cooling fan still needs to work overtime (more noise).
