I have a 2 year old VSX-92TXH. Its sexy and I felt great about it. Then I saw the new ones with B&O whatever, Ultra 2 THX, ICE POWER, Burr Brown, Wolfson, review this and award that... ??????????
So basically my American consumer instinct kicked in. Should I have the new 27 on the list for the new home theater? What are the differences between it and mine? Do they matter? I heard Ultra 2 THX is for big rooms so I won't need that. My budget is stretched right now- I'm moving to a studio so I'm selling my HD projector and want to get the 60'' 151 Kuros- I'm also saving for speakers. Thanks for your help. Thanks. The thing with Pioneer though is that we all love just about any of their products. So that doesn't help.
What did you have before? Did you have the 92 or 94? If so what are the differences moving to the 27 -both specifically speaking and real world from-the-chair differences? Thanks |

I found these main differences please comment:
-High end Wolfson Analog to Digital processors and Burr Brown Digital to Analog processors are included in the 27 but not in the 92 27: Analog to Digital Conversion Burr Brown 192 kHz / 24-bit Digital Analog Conversion (DAC) Wolfson WM8740 192 kHz / 24-bit DAC 92: Analog to Digital Conversion 96 Khz / 24-Bit Digital Analog Conversion (DAC) 192 kHz / 24-Bit [Does the quality of a blue ray player & receiver's Digital to Analog Converter or Analog to Digital converters matter if audio is going digitally from the blue ray player to the receiver either through HDMI, Digital Coax, or Optical TOSLINK?] ![]() -48 Bit Deep Color Support vs. Deep Color x.v. (36 Bit) [However a Pioneer tech support supervisor told me 48 bit deep color will just pass through from a 48 bit player to a tv if those two support it, not that I could tell the difference anyway] -Home media [I can live without that if I couldn't I'd buy an Apple TV] -Iphone support rather than just ipod [but the iphone actually interfaces on mine it just doesn't charge through their cable] -Pure Cinema I/P Converter ![]() ![]() ![]() -Better GUI which doesn't bother me -3D Noise Reduction (Analog SD) 3D Y/C Separation [What are these??] -PQLS for Audio [So if this links audio to go with the video between a blue ray and a receiver equipped with the same- is everyone else watching lagging movies? How real is this feature?] Explanations are greatly appreciated. Last edited by bsgraupner; 08-15-2009 at 01:11 AM. |
