I personally like the pioneer elite recievers they tend to have a nice warm sound and a good match for sound and looks would be the definitive technology promoniter 1000 or 800 system the gloss finish goes good with the pioneer. But everyone has there own sound preference so i would find a store that can demo different setups for you.

Wondering why with that range you are not looking at some of the higher onkyos. I prefer the pios as well but just a thought. As to the speakers you just need to make your choice on receiver and then listen to them and see what sounds best to you. Since less face it that is what is important. What sounds good to me might not to you. But I would go with the 92 for the pio since it has some newer features that the 91 does not.

I have the 705 and I love it. It's loaded and has more than you'd need for the $$.

My mini-review: Here
A great receiver. Now, for speakers. I take it your budget is $1000-1500 for all.
If you decide to go with a complete system, I would say that Klipsch, Boston Acoustics or PolkAudio can fill your needs within that price range. I would advise people to steer clear of Bose. I don't want to offend anyone, but they are a great marketing company with over-priced products. I would advise you to visit some of the forums of speaker manufacturers. You can learn a lot from others' experiences and knowledge. Hope that helps somewhat. |

My motto has always been, "Your system is only as good as your speakers". Build a matched set, one piece at a time if you have to. Large floor-standing speakers may be overkill in a small room, so choose according to your environment. Energy (www.energy-speakers.com) makes fantastic speakers for small to medium sized rooms that will fit that budget (RC line). I have this line in my small living room and they pack a big punch for bookshelf speakers. Good luck and have fun! |
