Currently, I'm not aware of any region free Blu-ray players.

As for DVD players, check out Oppo's line of players. They're very good players and better than 99% of them are region free when it comes to DVD. They're also one of the best up-converters available.

I'm planning on ordering one myself in the near future considering that I have a few region 2 DVD's.

1. Please do a search; there exist several threads on this subject.
2. Region-free DVD's (PAL, in this case) will play on all BD-players, as long as their manual indicates either PAL, or NTSC-50Hz(-simulated) compatibility.
3. When the latter (NTSC-50Hz), most displays will accept this signal. When it outputs a PAL-signal then you have to make sure your display can handle it (most projectors and several displays do).

Good luck in browsing the manuals of the BD-players you are interested in.

from what I have already looked into is I have yet to find a BluRay player that will play a region 0 pal disc.....that is what I asked people here

Would places like Best Buy let me try my pal dvd on the floor models?

I wanted the Sony BD 350 but it won't play PAL

I can't see why not. If they want to sell something, they'd better provide some service, I would say.

A.F.A.I.K. the Panasonic BD-55 in the US plays NTSC only (according to the manual), but the same player in Europe plays both PAL and NTSC (manual)!? Might be wise to double-check that, while you're there. As I said, I would suggest to download some US-manuals and use your [Ctrl]+[F] key to find out if/what it says about PAL-compatibility; good luck!

Oppo is what I would recommend to you for best PAL-NTSC conversion/upconversion.

If you are willing to wait until a player has been out for a while,.....they usually drop prices,... particularly around "Holiday" sales time.

Just bear in mind,..... in the case of electronics,.... many times,.... if you are not careful,..... you DO get what you pay for in the areas of reliability,.... features,.... and sometimes,... support.

my $49 philips DVD player I've had for the past four years still works great....which is a US player that just happens to be multiregion out of the box bought it from wal-mart. I've had better luck with the cheaper electronics than the higher end ones

I currrently have the Pansonic DMP-BD10A, and it players all regions on the dvd side. Apparently if its not set up, you can take it to a Panasonic repair center and they can install the software update for it.
