Default Please help with Pioneer VSX-1018 & PS3 - HDMI issue

Let me start by saying that my receiver and PS3 just came from being hooked up (successfully) in another room to my Samsung plasma (720p).

I just purchased a projector and hooked up my PS3 via HDMI to "BD in" on my receiver (Pioneer VSX-1018) and everything sounds great. Then I hook up the receiver to the projector via HDMI (HDMI out) and I still have sound, but as soon as I turn the projector on, my sound goes away and I don't get a picture. My receiver flashes "NOT SUPPORT". When I unplug the HDMI from the projector or turn it off, my sound comes back (but obviously no picture).

I tried swaping out the cables and I get the same result...so I went back to just pluging the PS3 directly to the projector and the picture shows up without any problems. I don't get what is happening...I have everything hooked up exactly the same way I did with my plasma.

Can anyone provide any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Make sure HDMI audio out on the receiver is set to off. Try changing your cables around as well, since it may be an HDCP issue.

Can you tell me how to set the HDMI audio out to off? I have tried switching out the cables and get the same result.

I don't have that receiver, so I can't say for sure. However, most HDMI receivers have a setting to pass the audio through to the TV set. It could be that this is set to on, and it's making the audio cut out and playing havok with the system.

Did you try the PS3 directly to the PJ with BOTH cables? I'm wondering if the PJ is finicky with one of the cables in your line. If one works and the other doesn't, you've found the issue.

Yes, I did try all 4 cables hooked up directly and they all worked. I'll try turning the sound pass through off when I get home.

while the PS3 is in standby (red light), press and hold the power button until it beeps a few times. This will reset the A/V connection.
