Default Steve's Updated HT Gallery

Here's my HT gallery. This first post is kept updated as changes/upgrades are made so that the pictures always show my HT accurately. Components are:

Samsung FP-T5084 50" 1080p Plasma
Cyron 6-Pack Light Kit
Pioneer Elite SC-25 AV Receiver
PS3-80 GB Backward Compatible
Xbox 360 Elite - Updated pic below, more coming soon
Dish Network VIP612 Dual-Tuner HD DVR
Ninetndo Wii
Classic Nintendo Entertainment System
Logitech Harmony One
Logitech Harmony PS3 Adapter
Klipsch RF-82 Mains
Klipsch RC-62 Center
Klipsch RS-62 Surrounds
MFW-15 Subwoofer
Belkin PF60 Power Conditioner

All HDMI cables, subwoofer cables, speaker wire, and the TV mount are from Monoprice.

New screen shots from Star Trek and Terminator Salvation.

Here are a few new ones of the front of my room which show UP and G.I. Joe.

I just replaced my receiver (Onkyo 605) with an new Pioneer Elite SC-25. So far it's completely awesome. I also recently replaced my old Xbox 360 console with an Elite.

My system as it is now.

Screen shots after adding a Cyron 6 Pack light kit.

It's been a little while in the making, but I recently did a speaker upgrade and here are some pictures of everything.

Here's a pic of my system before making some substantial upgrades. The system was an Onkyo HT-SP908 HTiB. It included a TX-SR605 receiver and a 7.1 speaker setup (but I didn't use two of the speakers).

In order be able to put my new center speaker - Klipsch RC-62 - in a decent place I first had to mount my TV on the wall. TV is a Samsung FP-T5084 50" 1080p plasma mounted on a tilting mount from monoprice.

The following are shots of my new surrounds and subwoofer - Klipsch RS-62's and MFW-15. The subwoofer is on a riser I built for it.

Here are a few shots of the seating area.

The most recent addition in the room is this thing called a cornice box (thanks Avond) over my vertical blinds. It was built for us by a friend who makes custom mantles. I only show pics of it because it has some hidden rope lighting in it, which adds a nice effect in the room while it's dark.

New upgrade today. I replaced my Harmony 550 with a new Harmony One. I know it does pretty much the same thing, but it still seems like a HUGE upgrade.

That's pretty much it. I know it's not much compared to what some of you guys have set up at home, but my wife and I enjoy it a lot.

P.S. I have a few different/additional pics in my HT gallery. I didn't see the point of putting all of them in both places.

Ok I've made a new update to my system. This is a reconditioned console my sister gave me for Christmas of last year. I never put it in my system as a permanent addition until now, because my old center speaker used to occupy this spot. I added the pics into my opening post, but here they are again anyway. I think you classic game guys will appreciate it.

An unrelated issue, but I swapped my Xbox 360 and satellite box to improve the remote reception of the satellite box.

nez I think it sounds great. However I feel I should point out that's the only place in the room where I could put it, so I'm not able to move it around for comparison.

Actually they don't. They can scroll through the colors at a predeterminted speed/pattern, or I can stop them on any color I want. For a few certain pics I put them on a specific color to go with the screen content. For TV/movie watching and gaming I leave them on white.

So I've been away from this thread for almost FIVE years. Wow. Anyway due to a lightning strike several months ago I lost my TV, AVR, PS3, and subwoofer. At least I ended up with some nice upgrades. The new TV is a Vizio P65-C1, the new receiver is a Pioneer Elite SC-95, and the new subwoofer is a Power Sound Audio 15V. I also got a new PS4 (Uncharted edition) to replace the PS3 I lost. My sister had a PS3 just like the one I lost that she never used so I got that from her. Later I upgraded to an Xbox One S. My center speaker has been upgraded from an RC-62 to an RC-64 II and I recently added a pair of Klipsch CDT-5800-C II in-ceiling speakers (not related to the lightning strike). I also ended up replacing the amp in my Power Sound Audio XV15se and brought it back to life so now I'm running a 5.2.2 Atmos/DTS:X setup. It's a really nice upgrade I didn't even know I was missing out on.

I'm very sorry to read about your systems mishap, but I'm glad to read you were able to recover and rebuild

Might I now suggest you get yourself a power center to protect yourself from going through that again ...................... They're worth it in the long run

Damn Steve, that suck's that you lost all those piece's at once, however it seem's that everything has worked out for you with some fantastic upgrade's. Please add a decent quality power/surge conditioner to your beautiful set up. Very nice pic's .

I appreciate the comments. Ultimately I'd say it was worth it because I have a nicer setup now than I did before.

I do have a surge protector/power conditioner. I had that at the time of the incident. Funny thing is it doesn't appear to have been damaged. We know it was a very close strike. In addition to the stuff I listed above we also lost our modem, router, garage door opener, security system, and Comcast/Xfinity cable box. Comcast replaced that no questions asked. The rest was covered by insurance.

Which Brand and model do you have .............. ?

It was supposed to sacrifice itself to save your gear ........ So if you say it's still operational, you must have a faulty unit and I would get rid of it immediately

It's an older Belkin model. I realize it's supposed to take the hit, but I've always been told by electricians that NO unit can save your stuff from a direct hit, and I know this hit was very very close. Also It's possible the hit came in through the cable and spread out through the cable box. I didn't have the cable ran through the surge protector because it degraded the signal so much. As far as the sub goes, it was just plugged into a regular wall outlet because it sits in the back of the room away from everything else.

I may still look into getting a new one before too long. Any recommendations? Preferably not Monster......

And now that I think of it, I lost a printer too. LOL

ETA: For logistical reasons it would need to be the type that can sit in a shelf in my HT stand where everything plugs into the back of it. The kind where everything plugs into the top won't work.

Hey there Steve. My best friend is a master electrician and has encountered this problem quite a bit after these thing's happen. Living in Dallas/Ft.Worth area we see numerous super cell thunderstorm's/tornado's. The only thing a home owner can do is install the Whole Home Protection at the Box. It's fairly affordable and work's pretty good, however it work's better for the major appliance's. It still work's for everything plugged into the home's wall outlet's, but he tell's me that these electronic's still need's to be hooked into the line conditioner's/surge protector's. My electrician friend has the whole home protection installed at his box, and a fancy console Panamax for his Audio/Video/Computer component's. There is one more thing you can do that cost nothing, which is UNPLUG the component's from the outlet's, period. Not turn them off, but UNPLUG THEM. In your case Steve, the whole home set up along with the power/surge protector's would not have helped you much at all, if any. Your lightning strike was much too close by damaging so many thing's at once for anything to help it. Luckily insurance served you well .
