Don Cheadle: Messiah or Myth? - Blu-ray Forum

Is Don Cheadle, the next great dramatic actor? His intensity, is it a benefit to his screen presence. Will he fall down the path of Jamie Foxx or succeed like Matt Damon. Is he the next BIG thing is my question.

I liked his roles in Crash and Reign Over Me (which I just saw the other night - good movie).

The guy to play Obama is not on the scene yet. The actor will have to be someone young with applied makeup to age him during the film. Cheadle will be too old to play Obama if Obama has 2 terms.

IMO, I think Cheadle is a great actor but he can not carry (on his own) a financially successful box office hit film or a franchise and is already too old and looks to old to be playing Tony Starks younger friend - Jim Rhodes.

Plus, the guy has no real on screen sex appeal or leading man stature for a love story. I think he is what they call a method actor.

I think you mean character actor. You're probably right. His supporting roles are some of his best. But he is a brilliant actor nonetheless. He's no Denzel but neither is Jamie Foxx.

I am not an expert on acting by no means but I was referring to this:

"Method acting is a technique in which actors aim to engender in themselves the thoughts and emotions of their characters in an effort to create a lifelike performance."

Okay thanks. I guess I was confused about the context in which it was used. There are plenty of lead actors who can carry a film that are method actors, Daniel Day Lewis for instance.
