Default Don Cheadle: Messiah or Myth?

Is Don Cheadle, the next great dramatic actor? His intensity, is it a benefit to his screen presence. Will he fall down the path of Jamie Foxx or succeed like Matt Damon. Is he the next BIG thing is my question.

Correction: One of the choices: The Guy Who Will Play Obama.

Why do you ask?

I liked his roles in Crash and Reign Over Me (which I just saw the other night - good movie).

My apologies. I was trying something different. I just wandered: whether Cheadle is the next big star? Yes or no? He will be in Iron Man 2 (2010) after all.

Oh well.

Have to love it when someone speaks their mind. Even when there isn't much mind to speak of...

Don Cheadle has great potential. He just needs the right role.

No apologies needed ... this is a public forum. My suggestion to anyone who does not like a thread ... don't post to it.

Look at the OPs post history for today. He's already made 2 threads alone that are pretty much the same exact thing.

Sooner or later he will run out of people and movies to poll about in Hollywood. You just need to brace the storm. After that he will have polls about members of this forum....

I don't think he's going to be having any other polls for, I don't know, 365 days or so.

I'm still relatively new here, so I don't know who the wackos on this forum are, but other than the 96 threads he's started since the end of January exactly what's the deal with the op? Just an internet troll, or a misunderstood genius?

- Not sure Matt Damon is a good yard stick for success

- Not sure playing Obama would make ANYBODY huge (or that it would take someone successful to play a president)... case in point

Josh Brolin - W.
Frank Langella - Nixon
William Devane - JFK
Tommy Lister - Pres. Lindberg

Besides, forget CGI, they'll have to steal secrets from Michael Jackson and Robert Downey Jr. to change Cheadle's skin color so radically...

Skip it - Fred Armisen is already playing a brilliant Obama on SNL

The guy to play Obama is not on the scene yet. The actor will have to be someone young with applied makeup to age him during the film. Cheadle will be too old to play Obama if Obama has 2 terms.

IMO, I think Cheadle is a great actor but he can not carry (on his own) a financially successful box office hit film or a franchise and is already too old and looks to old to be playing Tony Starks younger friend - Jim Rhodes.

Plus, the guy has no real on screen sex appeal or leading man stature for a love story. I think he is what they call a method actor.

I think you mean character actor. You're probably right. His supporting roles are some of his best. But he is a brilliant actor nonetheless. He's no Denzel but neither is Jamie Foxx.

I am not an expert on acting by no means but I was referring to this:

"Method acting is a technique in which actors aim to engender in themselves the thoughts and emotions of their characters in an effort to create a lifelike performance."

Okay thanks. I guess I was confused about the context in which it was used. There are plenty of lead actors who can carry a film that are method actors, Daniel Day Lewis for instance.
